Breeze is MARTA’s new state-of-the-art fare collection system. It’s a big move we are taking to greatly improve your MARTA experience – and it’s all part of our plan to completely transform MARTA by 2008.
We are renovating our rail cars, rebuilding our tracks, upgrading our security and lighting, and purchasing new buses and Paratransit vans – all to provide more convenient, efficient, reliable service to you. In addition, over the next few years we will be upgrading our computer systems to run our operations more efficiently.
Breeze Benefits
By converting our system to Breeze all at once, we were able to quickly upgrade our equipment in a matter of months, rather than years. We’ve already replaced all of our old turnstiles with six-foot, Plexiglas entry gates, and our token machines with interactive Breeze Vending Machines.

- Reliable: New fare gates, bus fare boxes, Breeze Vending Machines and durable plastic Breeze Cards
- Convenient: Choose from dozens of locations to get your Breeze Card – including Breeze Vending machines located in all 38 MARTA stations, www.breezecard.com or 404-848-5000
- Secure: Sign-up for Balance Protection – if your card is lost or stolen, it can be replaced with the balance intact
- Easy: Just tap your card on the blue, round Breeze Card target and go – you can even leave the card in your wallet!
- Better: More accurate ridership information will help us plan routes and service schedules that better meet your needs
Coming soon: Breeze’s technology will also allows MARTA to work with other transit systems in the region – like Cobb, Clayton, Gwinnett and GRTA – to allow customers to travel throughout the metro area using just one fare card -- the Breeze Card.
